Vijay Persad

Chairman of the Board

Vijay Persad became the Chairman of Board in 2000 after joining the FHO Shiva Mandir in January of 1991. He was first elected to the Board of Directors in 1994 and has served the organization in this capacity ever since. In the early years, his sole role was as Treasurer and now upholds the responsibility as Chairman of the Board. Throughout his past years and now currently, Mr. Persad is focused on enriching the organization primarily through the youths. This approach has manifested in establishing the youths as the cornerstone of the organization, whereby Hindu education, volunteering, and youth involvement is flourishing. During his tenure as Treasurer, Mr. Persad has directed the organization into financial stability, whereby the organization can now set eyes upon the expansion of the Shiva Mandir. Mr. Persad, born and raised in Trinidad, migrated to Texas with his family at the age of seventeen, after completing high school. In 1980 he earned a bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of Texas. Then in 1981, he married his wife, Sati and eventually had three children, all of whom have been actively involved in Hindu Dharma. For the entirety of his career, 36 years, Mr. Persad has been employed by Albertsons, where he has held several upper management positions. He has years of experience in managing people, solving problems and project management, as was trained and worked on a corporate level with the Six Sigma Academy, in Boise, Idaho. His dedication and extremely driven work ethic has helped the FHO Shiva Mandir move forward, both spiritually and culturally.

Rupchand Ramdass

Secretary

Mr. Rupchand Ramdass has been attending services at the Shiva Mandir since 1991. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Ramdass is the sixth child in a family of seven brothers and two sisters. From an early age of eight, he was exposed to the business world and since that tender age has worked in retail, sales, and cash management. He obtained higher education in Trinidad and worked there in business management, accounting, human resources and payroll from 1982 to 1989. In 1989 Mr. Ramdass migrated to Florida and continued to work in that field. In 1999 he entered the real estate business and he continues to work full time in that industry. Rupchand Ramdass has been a solid and exceptional leader in Hindu Dharma as he was elected as member of the FHO Executive in February 2004 and re-elected in 2008. He has served as Secretary of the FHO since 2004, in addition to assisting in matters involving the city and county and is involved in nearly every aspect in of the inner workings of FHO.

Devanand Coolman

Temple Maintenance

Mr Devanand Coolman has been a dedicated member of the FHO Shiva Mandir and now currently holds the Special Projects position on the Executive Board. With a background in Carpentry and Building Engineering, he is extremely instrumental in all facets of Shiva Mandir events. Married with two children, Mr Coolman and his family devote countless hours to upholding the organization and are exceptional leaders in the community. His expertise will and already has been extremely beneficial as we all set our sights toward the construction of the New Shiva Mandir.

Dr. Avinash Persad

Marketing

Son of Vijay and Sati Persad, Avinash Persad, has been a part of the FHO Shiva Mandir since the young age of seven. Throughout his years in the Shiva Mandir he has risen to become a most active member, where his imagination and creativity has impacted numerous areas of FHO. Being one of the five founding members of the Shiv Ratan Youth Group, and now a Board of Trustee, Avinash works closely with the youths in trying to elevate this new generation of Hindus. He has a Bachelor of Science degree and is currently a Resident at Broward Health Medical Center. Avinash now serves as the Marketing Director of the FHO Shiva Mandir.

Nairmal Ramlogan
